Roberto Civitelli, MD,

 

the Sydney M. and Stella H. Schoenberg Professor of Medicine and a professor of orthopaedic surgery and of cell biology and physiology in the School of Medicine, has been elected president of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research. The society is the world’s leading scientific organization for bone health research.

Timothy J. Eberlein, MD,

 

the William K. Bixby Professor of Surgery, chairman of the Department of Surgery at the School of Medicine, and director of the Siteman Cancer Center, has been inducted into the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh as an honorary fellow. The Royal College is one of the world’s oldest organizations dedicated to advances in surgery. Fewer than 400 people have been named honorary fellows since 1670.

Evan D. Kharasch, MD, PhD, and J. Evan Sadler, MD, PhD,

 

both professors at the School of Medicine, have been elected to the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, one of the highest honors medical scientists in the United States can receive.
